Name; Cosmo Francis Engel

Age; 25

Instrument; Bass

Talents;
  • Writing
  • Annoying People
  • Acting
  • Playing the bass (obviously)
  • Plays a little harp
  • Tennis
  • Singing in the shower very badly

Background;
Cosmo grew up in a San Francisco, California with two very quiet parents. He was born the oldest of a family made up of mostly girls. Three younger sisters soon accompanied him all separated by three years. His father was a photographer and his mother a simple librarian. His entire family was made up of shy people who kept their opinions to themselves and always tried to keep a good out look on life. Both his mother and father were always very encouraging and rarely fought with each other or any of their children. They never did have much money though and would be considered just middle class.
When Cosmo started school it became quite obvious that he didn’t take on the family’s usual traits. Instead of being sweet and quiet he was always rowdy and could never sit still. He was constantly in trouble at school because of this but got along very well with classmates and even the staff. He could never simply listen to the rules. But as time rolled on he didn’t change much and nobody encouraged him to. Except for the usual lecture from his parents that he needed to calm down at school.
By the age of thirteen Cosmo picked up a guitar to try it out. But his interest in it died quickly since he thought that it was a bit to ‘twangy’ for his taste. That was when he picked up the bass instead. He always found it much more fun since it was loud; like him. It also seemed to catch his attention because it held rhythm like the drums.
After discovering his interest in music Cosmo’s rowdy attitude only continued and he widened his variety of music. For a few years he attepempted harp and then the piano for a few weeks. Both this failed miserably since he hated sitting down.
Once he moved away from home he sought out a career in music but hadn’t found much luck in it. So from the age of nineteen to twenty-four he was a construction worker. But after getting a bit more money to live off of; he quite his job in pursuit for music yet again.

Appearance;
Cosmo is a rather thin young man but he would most likely be considered average sized. He stands around six feet and has a peachy complexion to him that rarely changes in color unless it is the lightest of tans. His hair is short and is a dark chocolate brown color that matches his pair of eyes perfectly. Usually it’s spiked down the middle simply or not done at all. His attire is usually rather simple. It will most likely consist of jeans and tee shirts with a belt and some Converse red shoes. He doesn’t have any piercing but does have a few little tattoos on his arms and one on his chest. All in all, Cosmo’s appearance is nothing out of the ordinary.

Personality;
  • In Public/Around Acquaintances
    In the eye on the public Cosmo is not afraid to be himself. He has no problem standing around and talking with complete strangers nor does he have a problem with being excessively loud in public. Although his actions may be annoying and slightly obnoxious. He likes to make anyone and everyone laugh by making comments on something or doing something completely ridiculous. Even though he may come off as a rather bothersome fellow, Cosmo’s intentions are good. He simply likes to see people happy instead of down so finds a way to change. He’ll always keep on a bright mood and is rarely angry or crestfallen around people he hardly knows.
  • Behind the Scenes/Around Friends & Family
    Friends are like family and Cosmo treats them all almost equally well. He believes family matters come first though so the family does get a bit more attention at time. But around these people Cosmo really acts a lot like he does in public. The only difference is that he doesn’t mind picking or teasing these people. All out of good humor, of course. Instead of making a fool of himself though, he will usually just make sarcastic remarks or do little pranks to get people upset. At times he goes a bit far with things like that but usually not purposely. He is also much more honest about matters with these particular people and isn’t afraid to point out what they are doing wrong.
  • When He’s Loved/Around the Lovers
    He’s all the same but will often take the time to shut his mouth for these people. He’s a bit more loyal but tends to stray from that path from time to time. He gets a bit nervous but doesn’t actually show it. Instead, he covers it up with corny lines.
  • All by Yourself/Alone time
    When Cosmo is by himself he gets very calm and quiet. But also very impatient. He does not enjoy being by himself so he’ll often mope until he can get some kind of company.
  • Mashing it Together/Overall
    Overall Cosmo enjoys being the clown. He loves having attention and has a tendency to hoard it all to himself. He has a very large mouth which often keeps people from being interested in accompanying him and he tends to go a little overboard with his joking around. Some people find it very hard to take him seriously. He loves to laugh and hates to cry and shows that by hiding when he’s sad. Cosmo always tries desperately to keep bad feelings away and almost always comes out successful. To most people he is true to what he says but a rather forgetful memory sometimes gets the best of him and bad excuses cause him to loose many friendships. He can come off as agitating but he really doesn’t mean it. Most of the time.

Strengths;
  • Open-minded
  • Persistent
  • Being a leader
  • Always Playful
  • Keeping rhythm (thank goodness)
  • Easy to get along with
  • Enjoys being around people
  • Good communicator
  • Willing to learn

Weaknesses;
  • Focusing on one thing for a long amount of time
  • Unfortunately, multi-tasking
  • Singing
  • Looses train of thought
  • Hard time remembering names
  • Bad memory
  • Cooking
  • Big Mouth

Role-playing Sample;
Both of his azure colored eyes began to decline toward the ground as he felt a strange awkwardness dive into his stomach. It wasn’t a nervous feeling. No, it was far from that. More like a confused feeling. A feeling of not really knowing what to do for her right now. All he could do was listen and that was a skill he had always thought he didn’t have. Obviously he did. But he didn't know how to say anything comforting or do anything comforting. He knew she was sad; obviously by the tears he had seen. That made him feel worse, but there wasn’t much he could do.

His ears had barely caught the noise coming from her lips but somehow he had managed to catch her words. A small smile tugged at the corners of his lips as he looked up at her. It was the poetry that had caught him. Ace had always had a love for it for some reason. Any kind of writing really, but poetry always seemed to be the most appealing to him.

Before he could say anything he heard her speak up once again. His eyes turned away for a moment at her words. He doubted he really needed to have a thank you of any kind. Sure he listened, but what good did that really do in the end? None really. Well, maybe it did. Honestly Ace wasn’t quite sure. He couldn’t really understand how talking about something could help in the least bit. Maybe he should try it one day. Then again, maybe not.

“No need to thank me, really,” he answered quietly as he looked back over to her. He bit the inside of his lip thoughtfully as he wondered what else he could possibly say. His head was still throbbing slightly and his vision was still slightly tired and worn down from his long night. He didn’t feel tired. Just crappy and regretful that he had drank anything. “You know,” he started as he tugged at the fabric of his jeans. “A long time ago, I lost someone important to me too. I didn’t act like it bugged me though. I still don’t. But, I don’t think acting that way really helped me.” He stopped as he began to look at the suddenly very interesting ground. “His death wasn’t as… well, it didn’t seem as unfair but he was the only person I could ever talk to. The only one who noticed I was even there.” Ace shook his head and grinned with a small chuckle. He then let out a sigh and looked back up at her. “I’m babbling.”

He was. It wasn’t often that he babbled. He would usually at least be able to stay on topic and he would never talk about such personal things. Nobody cared about them. He shouldn’t either. It was all in the past. But he had realized that never talking about it had made him soft on the subject over the years. Every time it was brought up he felt the back of his eyes began to sting with tears and his heart sink. He felt like a little boy again. The little boy who decided that crying then was stupid and now he was the young adult who had decided the same.

Talking about himself had never been that appealing in his eyes. He was as normal as they came. “I’m sorry, I’ve never been good with these kinds of things,” he finally spoke up. “With these comforting, sad… things... that is.” He puckered up his lips in slight thought before deciding he should shut up. “Sorry.”

Never in his social life had Ace felt so embarrassed about talking. He had said some stupid things before and even terribly revolting ones, but he found himself becoming extremely shy at the moment. And he didn’t know why.
