A mall? A MALL? Alijah was desperate for entertainment, obviously. Being this kid in town with a dream and basically an amateur was not what he expected for his first week in L.A.. He had been to 4 different places hoping for gigs. He was denied in about a second after the found out he was from Missouri.

He tried to get his mind off it and walked to the coffee shop in the mall. He walked towards the big menu wandering what to get. He stood his legs slanted and his arms crossed in front of his chest. Hmm. . .coffee?

Ryan was in a hurry. He had band practice in twenty minuites. He still hadn't thought of half of the lyrics for his new song yet. He walked into a coffe shop and ordered a large coffe. Maybe if he had some caffeene it would help him think straight. "One large Coffe please." Said Ryan as he sat down with his notebook already out on the table. He began to scribble some more writing down anything that came into his head.

Alijah lowered his arms and shoved his hand into his pockets. He looked at the clerk with a curious look on his face. He gazed up at the menu above her. "Um. Can I get a medium coffee,please?" he cracked a smile at her.

Once he grabbed his coffee, he noticed a struggling kid at a notebook. He looked at the back of his head. He looked at what he had been writing "Here try this" he said as he noticed his lyrics. He plopped in the chair across from him. "Think of a word that more meaning than the one before" he cocked an eyebrow.

Ryan looked up to see a boy sat infront of him. "What? Oh right thanks sorry i was miles away. hmmmm now lets see what have i got so far." Ryan started to sing the lyrics quietly to himself.

"I walk these Darkened streets alone
Looking for the place that i call home
has anyone found it? No, not there
Someone please help me im in despair"

Ryan looked up at the boy. "Pretty crappy i know but its the best i could come up with in five minuites. Got any ideas?" Ryan sighed and drank his coffe. "if i dont get these lyrics done im out of the band for sure!"

He raised his eyebrows in astonishment. Wow, he was actually listening. "Woah. I think your band should understand if you can't get a sing written in 10 minutes." he grabbed his notebook and pen. He read the lyrics slowly and putting them together in his mind.

"Hm. How about
These dark streets I walk alone
With no home
I wanna be loved like I was before
Let me just be home.
Its a bit dark, but sure as hell it's not perfect"

He looked back at the guy who seemed to be a bit tense. He was awfully serious about this band. He reminded him when he was starting out, only he was alone. Those days were never forgotten.

Ryan mulled over the lyrics for a moment. "It doesnt really go with the tune ive got planned out though." Ryan pulled out his guitar and started to play something that sounded a lot like a song called songbird which was an old song sung by a brittish band called oasis. "See it doesnt really fit does it. lets skip the first verse and go straight to the chorus. Hmm i think ive got something"

Ryan began to scribble once more nodding his head as he read the lyrics in his head.

"Im still walking these streets all on my own
Lord send me down an angel to guide me home
I dont think i can face it no, no way
Should i just end it all here today?"

Ryan began to sing the next verse aswell.

"Lord if your there give me a sign
Please dont say this is a waste of time
Whisper in my ear the words i like
and help me get away from here tonight"

He nodded his head. "Nice, man. What genre of music do you play? Some type of rock I can see. Your band sounds a bit demanding" he chuckled. He held out his hand with a friendly smile "I'm Alijah and no I am not your neighbor" he wanted to lighten the kid up he was awfully stressed.

Alijah knew that this kid had talent. Though he had enough problems of his own. He had no gigs,no friends,and no money. Damn. he whispered under his breath. This was a start, a rough one at that.

Ryan smiled. "Thanks. We play a bit of everything really but yeah mainly rock." Ryan extended his hand and shook Alijah's. "Nice to meet you Alijah. I'm Ryan." Ryan drank some of his coffee. "So, Alijah you in a band or anything? Do you play an instrument?" Ryan started to play his guitar again to see if he cold work out a new melody for the song he'd just written.

He nodded in approval "Actually I am just a solo artist." he chuckled "Acoustic mostly." he picked up his coffee and took a sip. "So where's your gig?" he asked in curiosity. Alijah wondered what place accepted young musicians. L.A. was not what he expected, it is so much more different.

He stared back to the outside world from the window of the coffee shop. This was a hell of a town. He sighed "How long have you been in L.A.?" he asked setting his coffee down.
